4 Ways to Artfully Explore in New South Wales

Do you just love a destination known for its art and cultural scene? New South Wales has a thriving arts community, exciting heritage, incredible stargazing opportunities, and superb accommodations. Let us introduce 4 ways to artfully explore in New South Wales.

Photography lovers will enjoy Broken Hill and the golden hues of light that shine over Living Desert and it’s sandstone sculptures. Within this state park is also the John Simons Sanctuary — nearly 445 acres of native plants, wildflowers, and wildlife. You can even spend the night at a campsite named Starview.

You can also learn the culture of the indigenous Aboriginal peoples in Broken Hill. For thousands of years, these people have called this region home. At Mutawintji National Park, heritage tours take place daily, but you must reserve your spot. These half-day tours take visitors to restricted sites with stencils, engravings, and other native arts. If you want, you can even combine your tour with an aboriginal art class.

If subterranean exploring is up your alley, consider White Cliffs in Australia’s outback. The oldest opal field in the world is located here, about three hours northeast of the Broken Hill region. White Cliffs is known for its signature, spiked opals, aka the pineapple opal. But back to subterranean — because it’s so hot here, many people have built their dwellings underground. You can take a bus tour to learn more, or book a stay at the White Cliffs Motel, in which all rooms are below ground level.

Finally, the stargazing…nights in the outback are quite a sight to behold. And for an astronomy lesson to boot, consider Outback Astronomy. This venue holds “sky shows” which point out the constellations with the help of knowledgeable star guides. Glamping style tents are available (you’ll even get binoculars). For a special occasion, reserve your spot at a Moon Graze, which is dinner underneath the stars complete with telescopes and binoculars during full moon events.

In New South Wales, there’s so much to do, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Which of these 4 ways to artfully explore in New South Wales are you planning to try?
