The Best Places to Stay in Anguilla

December 1, 2022 //  by Great Vacations

The Best Places to Stay in Anguilla

When you think of the Caribbean, you likely envision clear skies, warm waters, and sandy beaches — and you wouldn’t be wrong. But Anguilla offers something even greater. Think of a non-touristy vibe, relaxed pace, and a warm welcome from a just-under-the-radar gem of an island. So, you know what you’ll be doing — where are the best places to stay in Anguilla? Check out these luxe resorts.

For those looking for luxury and to remain active on their getaway, Anguilla’s Aurora Resort and Golf Club is the spot. Located at what used to be The Reef Resort, this reimagined accommodation reopened in December 2021. With nearly 180 guest suites, seven incredible restaurants or bars, and a full-service spa, you won’t want for anything. Oh, and there’s even a golf course designed by veteran golfer, Greg Norman.

Another reimagining of a mainstay, the Arawak Beach Club is just outside Island Harbour. It’s the perfect spot for solo travelers. Each suite is a self-contained studio apartment or cottage and each suite has a full kitchen and fast Wi-Fi. Paddleboards are also available for those who want to get out on the water. If you enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn, consider a guided hiking tour at sunrise.

If a resort or hotel stay isn’t your cup of tea, consider some of the independent properties on Anguilla, such as Cottage at Meads Bay. The “cottage” is a newly-built villa on private property offering three bedrooms and a pristine private beach. It’s not far from the area’s most popular dining establishments, such as Blanchards or Ocean Echo. The turquoise waters of the Caribbean and the white sands of the beach are a focal point from anywhere inside this luxurious “cottage” by the sea.

Once you’ve chosen your digs, finding that go-to place for eats is paramount. In Sandy Ground, check out Barrel Stay. It’s one of the oldest restaurants on the island and was recently renovated by its new owners. Even the menu enjoyed an overhaul. Consider the lobster or the fresh-caught snapper. Visitors and locals alike swear by the mahi-mahi dinner. Outside on the beach, the bar menu offers lighter fare with Asian and Caribbean inspiration, plus signature cocktails. There’s live music with the Caribbean Sea as the stage.

Ready to see the new Anguilla? Make your reservations at one of the best places to stay in Anguilla.
